Abstract

Las viviendas pueden proveer no solamente refugio y amenidades sino también un ingreso a través del alquiler del espacio o de su uso como una tienda, Este ingreso ayuda a financiar las viviendas y sus mejoras. Pero con frecuencia los formuladores de política se han opuesto a diseñar viviendas en las que también se pueda trabajar, debido a una devoción por las teorías del uso unifuncional de la tierra y por un sesgo moralista contra las ganancias económicas privadas al apoyar viviendas sociales. Más aun, se piensa que las empresas domésticas son talleres donde se trabaja muy duramente, que son improductivos y no tienen futuro
