Jornales y esclavitud: Lima en la primera mitad del siglo XIX

Abstract

Lo que en este trabajo nos interesa analizar es un aspecto poco estudiado del proceso de manumisión esclava: la automanumisión a través del jornal esclavo. Este tema se inserta en una discusión mayor, aquella acerca de los procesos de abolición de la esclavitud en general. Cada caso individual hasta ahora analizado presenta razones diferentes que no sólo tienen que ver con el carácter específico de la sociedad y el período en cuestión, sino también con el tipo de perspectiva del análisis.
