Abstract

This paper reviews the evolution of policies for the management and resolution of cross-border bank failures. It offers some reflections on the paradigm shift that occurred with the introduction of special resolution regimes and resolution planning for the largest global financial institutions and the progress made toward resolving the cross-jurisdictional challenges that arise when an internationally active financial institution fails.
