Awino Okech
Abstract

Awino Okech describes the work of GROOTS Kenya. She argues there is need for deeper problematizing of what a feminist organization is. In looking critically at whether GROOTS is a grassroots feminist organization and how it links with other women's groups and the dominant development discourse she examines what fosters or hinders the growth of women's movements. Development (2009) 52, 224–229. doi:10.1057/dev.2009.27
