Abstract

Mwajuma Saiddy Masaiganah looks at the health policy in her country in relation to the current global forces. She explores the issues of accessibility and equity in view of the vulnerable groups considering the reforms those the developing countries are going through and the Alma Ata Declaration signed by governments in 1978 demanding Health for All by the year 2000. She looks at the social–cultural determinants of health in addressing opportunistic and other diseases of poverty that are affecting the developing world, and argues that for Tanzania Primary Health Care is the only way to reach the poor and the vulnerable groupsDevelopment (2004) 47, 136–139. doi:10.1057/palgrave.development.1100041
