Abstract

Property shares in Europe have shown a strong performance relative to common equities in 2000. Consolidation is a key trend in the European market, and the influence of the European integration is showing in the form of cross-border corporate actions. More activity is on its way, as the importance of liquidity is growing. Liquidity in shares of a property company is spurred by being part of an index. The GPR 250 Europe Property Share Index Europe is the leading European index tracking the performance of the most liquid European property companies. As liquidity improves it will become possible to invest in property shares through derivative instruments. Global Property Research has developed the GPR 15 real-time index to that end.
