La crisis de la deuda y el impase del desarrollo: sus implicancias para la paz

Abstract

El artículo sostiene que el fin de una era de extraordinario crecimiento de la economía mundial ha marcado el agotamiento del modelo de desarrollo del Tercer Mundo, basado en la inversión y la industrialización intensivas. Expone los efectos de la crisis de la deuda sobre el desarrollo y en particular su impacto económico y social sobre América Latina, destacando la necesidad de un nuevo modelo regional de desarrollo. Señala la gradual decadencia de la fe internacional en el desarrollo, jalonada por una sucesión de reveses de carácter moral, técnico, político y económico. Muestra, finalmente, las implicancias para la paz interna e internacional de los problemas contemporáneos del desarrollo en el Tercer Mundo, agravados por el estancamiento.
