Abstract

Along with the transition to the market economy, the phenomenon of unemployment has become more and more present in the Romanian society; in the Oneºti Depression there are localities that present an alarming high level of this scourge. It is the result of restructuring local industries, especially the important units from Borzeºti Platform, the entry into bankruptcy of some traditional factories from the region, and subsequently the decrease of activities in sectors such as woodworking, textile, which have employed some of the dismissed resulted from the first stages of dismissals. The most important number of unemployed is in towns and among the villages, in Oituz; these are settlements with the highest workforce contingent. By the level of education, over 80% of the unemployed have primary education, 15% secondary education; those who graduated from university worry less about getting unemployed. Of the total number of unemployed, most are compensated.
