Analysis of the Banking System Performance in Romania During 2000-2012

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the development of Romania's banking system performance based on ROA (Return to Assets) and ROE (Return on Equity) ratios between 2000 and 2012. The main objectives focused on presentation the theoretical banking performance aspects and banking performance indicators and analyses ROA and ROE indicators in Romania in the period 2000 to 2012, the calculation banking performance indicators of a bank in Romania. Research results showed that these indicators had a downward trend during the period analyzed, with values becoming lower. The scientific approach is based on information from the literature national and European, as well as documenting the practice undertaken within the Bank. In formulating the thesis I opted on combining quantitative research qualitative research in order to obtain the expected results. As a result of the research undertaken, research tools pertaining to the two types of methods: literature review, normative acts, the comparison study, descriptive analysis, case study method, the interpretation of data.
