Abstract

The paper aims to analyze an issue Romania is facing at present, namely the phenomenon of integrating immigrants into the community, both from the perspective of governmental policies, and from the point of view of implementing these policies into practice. As Member State of the European Union, Romania had to align to the European standards and to perform its activity in the field of immigration in full accordance with the position of the other state. If in the past Romania mainly had a role of transit country for the migrant flows coming from the Eastern states, in their path to the Western, highly economically developed states, at present, Romania is also becoming a destination country.
