Abstract

From the contributions of Karl Kautsky and Nikolai Bukharin, dating from the early twentieth century and of all who keep the heritage originating ideas of Marx, we look at how these two theorists have interpreted the effects of the historical process of global expansion of relations bourgeois production on regions not yet capitalists of the world, the same as they would be treated, later, under the broad concept of periphery. In the era of capitalist imperialism, we seek to rescue the impressions and concerns that led to these authors toward the ideal perception ideal perception of a real process of polarization of the world economy in a center, developed and rich, and a periphery, poor and backward, argument that would dominate the developmental discussions a few decades later.
