Was verdienen Ingenieure und Ingenieurinnen? Eine Analyse auf Basis der WSI-Lohnspiegel-Datenbank

Abstract

Die WSI-Lohnspiegel-Datenbank umfasst gegenwärtig 180.000 Datensätze zu Arbeits- und Einkommensbedingungen von Beschäftigten, die im Rahmen einer laufenden Online-Erhebung seit dem Jahr 2004 erhoben wurden. Der Beitrag analysiert auf Basis von 11.000 Datensätzen die Einkommenssituation von Ingenieuren und Ingenieurinnen. Zwar sind die Daten aufgrund der Erhebungsmethode nicht repräsentativ, die hohe Fallzahl erlaubt aber eine differenzierte Auswertung, die sowohl die betriebsbezogenen Faktoren (Branche, Betriebsgröße, regionale Lage) als auch die personenbezogenen Merkmale (Geschlecht, Ausbildung, Berufserfahrung) einschließt. Wir beschreiben Niveau und Differenzierung der Einkommen in sieben verschiedenen Ingenieurberufen entlang dieser Merkmale und bestätigen bzw. quantifizieren verschiedene Annahmen wie z. B. erhebliche Einkommensunterschiede nach Fachrichtungen, nach Regionen und Städten, einen beachtlichen Gender Pay Gap sowie eine positive Wirkung der Tarifbindung auf die Einkommenshöhe von Ingenieurinnen und Ingenieuren. in: WSI-Mitteilungen 1/2011, Seiten 28-33
