Abstract

The economy of gifts is not a special ethnological form but is present in many ways in the midst of modern economy This is particularly noticeable in the transaction forms of e-commerce, which knows many free offers, whose reciprocal payouts are made in non-monetary currencies: in data, information. The digital economy works in a binary way: with monetary transactions and with the infrastructure of the economy of giving. In this essay, a distinction is made between the classical theme of the gift economy and the new forms that are taking hold in the e-commerce space.
