¿Qué es una cuenta satélite de turismo?

Abstract

El artículo analiza la metodología de medición del impacto económico del turismo a través de las Cuentas Satélites de Turismo (CST), según la propuesta de la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT). El objetivo es generar un material que sirva para la difusión de este sistema estadístico, dada la aceptación que ha tenido a nivel internacional y del proceso vigente de elaboración de la CST de la Argentina. Para esto, se revisan antecedentes y se desarrolla una síntesis de los principales conceptos y agregados que figuran en el documento oficial. También se analiza la implementación de la CST como un proceso gradual, de necesaria adaptación a los contextos nacionales y las perspectivas para su mejora en los próximos años.
