De la recherche à l’enseignement : réorientations professionnelles dans un contexte socioéconomique bouleversé

Abstract

Starting in 1991, the free circulation of ideas and persons along with the collapse of public finances modified the professional environment of academics in Russia. New horizons opened for those who enjoyed international recognition and the material gratifications coming from it: possibilities for social mobility and new professional practices. For others, less well placed in relation to the new agenda, 1991 marked the start of a period during which they would have to switch occupations or hold several jobs. The place of teaching in the careers analyzed herein illustrates this process of social differentiation.
