The thin line between family migration and network migration: Family stories of the Romanian migration to Spain

Abstract

Le rôle de la famille est loin d’être négligeable dans la migration roumaine internationale. La présente étude est fondée sur des entretiens menés auprès de deux familles dont une grande partie des membres avaient émigré, originaires de deux villages roumains. À travers la comparaison de ces deux villages aux traditions migratoires très différentes, l’on observe comment les liens familiaux – exclusifs ou complémentaires – peuvent être associés à ceux d’ordre religieux, communautaires ou amicaux et jouent sur l’évolution de la migration, en fonction de l’histoire de la migration, de la variété des liens auxquels les migrants recourent et du niveau de leur migration. Nous nous efforçons ici de définir l’influence de la famille sur les formes de migration et sur l’émergence du transnationalisme.
