Les défis actuels de la démographie tchèque

Abstract

Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, deux ensembles géopolitiques, l’Est et l’Ouest, se sont formellement constitués en Europe. Le nouveau régime politique imposé à la République tchèque a eu pour effet le ralentissement de son développement économique et, quelque temps plus tard, l’adoption d’un comportement démographique comparable à celui des pays de l’Est. La divergence des trajectoires entre l’Est et l’Ouest, amorcée au milieu des années 1960, est encore visible aujourd’hui lorsque l’on compare la République tchèque et la France. L’effondrement récent de la fécondité en République tchèque sera la cause principale d’un processus rapide de vieillissement et d’une diminution de sa population.
