Les semences entre critique et expérience : les ressorts pratiques d’une contestation paysanne

Abstract

Cet article analyse les ressorts et inflexions du mouvement de réappropriation paysanne des semences apparu depuis 10 ans en France. Le mouvement issu en partie de la contestation des OGM s’ancre dans un discours critique de la modernité agricole, qui se décline en trois points : rejet des techniques modernes d’innovation variétale, refus de la relégation des agriculteurs dans une position subalterne, dénonciation du rapport instrumental de l’agriculture industrielle vis-à-vis de la nature. Cependant le projet du collectif s’est aussi enrichi et précisé par la confrontation avec la pratique, dans le corps-à-corps avec les plantes. Cette étude contribue à la compréhension des dynamiques actuelles d’écologisation de l’agriculture. Elle offre par ailleurs l’illustration d’une mobilisation qui se trouve transformée par son objet (les semences paysannes) en même temps qu’elle le construit ; ce dont seule une perspective en sciences sociales qui prend les objets au sérieux permet de rendre compte.
