Abstract

La Rivista di storia economica è lieta di pubblicare la prima traduzione in lingua inglese degli articoli che Ragnar Frisch pubblicò su giornali norvegesi. Questi scritti prospettano con grande chiarezza, a un largo pubblico, con dichiarate finalità di politica economica, l'antinomia fra il risparmio quale virtù individuale e l'eccesso di risparmio quale vizio macroeconomico. Oltre che per questi profili di teoria macroeconomica, gli scritti di Frisch sono di grande interesse per gli storici dell'economia, alla luce delle considerazioni attinenti al contesto economico e istituzionale dell'Europa dei primi anni '30. Il saggio di Frisch è preceduto da un inquadramento del pensiero e dell'impegno civile e politico del primo Premio Nobel per l'economia, redatto per la Rivista dal prof. Bjerkhold dell'Università di Oslo insieme con il dott. Qvigstad della Banca Centrale Norvegese al quale si devono la segnalazione e la cura dell'edizione in lingua inglese dello scritto di Frisch.
