Abstract

While other European areas have shown relevant results over the last twenty years in terms of growth, Southern Italy continues to be a lagging area with a centuries-old limit of low development rate. To solve these problems, over time many different initiatives have been proposed characterized by an extensive approach, involving the largest number of companies and entrepreneurs or wouldbe entrepreneurs. Because of unsatisfactory results, maybe it is time to try to focus efforts only on the companies with the best potentialities. An attempt that assumes the offering of an ensemble of resources – the ecosystem – consistent with the specific business environment. The creation of an ecosystem is in line with the newest theories on entrepreneurship policies, even if, being based on networking capabilities among a plethora of actors, their implementation is not easy.
