Abstract

The aim of this essay is the evaluation of the effects of the first phase of the intervention of the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno in Terra di Lavoro, considering the necessary improvements of life conditions in the province of Caserta at the time and, on the other hand, the transformations in agricolture that were crucial for the transition from an arcaic agricolture to a much more market oriented agricolture. In the province of Caserta the latifundium was historically the predominant characteristic of the landed properties. Using direct sources of the CasMez, and taking into consideration the literature on this matter and information offered by some personal archives, this research highlights that intervention policy financed by the Cassa promoted a strong modernizing of the productive structures in agricolture and the differentiation of productions, with the conseguent significant increase in productivity; moreover, research highlights that, after the first years of intervention by the Cassa del Mezzogiorno, citizens experienced brand-new services and of their life quality improved a lot
