Communicating the contemporary: methods and experiences

Author

  • Maria Paola Orlandini

Abstract

Communicating the arts has the specific duty to mirror their complexity, adjusting form to content, through a creative process not dissimilar to the one that initially gave birth to the work of art itself. The author, a former television producer in the Italian broadcasting public service, emphasize the new generations need to be trained to appreciate and value the contempoary art works and the peculiar contradiction of a country like Italy, so widely recognized as a leader in quality and quantity of its artistic heritage and so utterly indifferent to its communication. The absence of a formal education in art documentary and photography is also mentioned, with the proposal for a great National plan that might actively, taking inspiration from a noble tradition, contribute to the development of a collective and more radicate consciousness as well as create new skills, job opportunities and employments.
