Abstract

No surprise - it was a dreadful quarter. Second quarter exports dropped about thirty percent, a loss of some $2.5 billion. The losses were concentrated in the motor vehicle sector, though computer and electrical equipment also suffered. Shipments to both Canada and Mexico saw brutal declines. The "best" market was the Eurozone, were losses were moderate. The only major country to actually increase shipments from Tennessee was China.
