Abstract

The contribution focuses on quantification of the selected macroeconomic impacts on the assessment of competitiveness of countries in the European Economic Area (EEA). In the first part of the paper we present a brief description of the selected macroeconomic variables and indices evaluating competitiveness, and we justify the selection of these input variables for our model. The following part of the paper presents the formulated hypotheses aimed mainly at identification of different natures and the degree of dependence between the selected spectrum of the competitiveness indices and the macroeconomic indicators, which we consider to be the main objective of our contribution, as well as the identification of the potential for further investigation of the issue. The next part contains a more detailed description of the method used, which was, in this case, a panel analysis including correlational, regressive, Breutch-pagan, and Hausman test statistics. The subsequent part of the paper, using the visual-graphic table apparatus, provides our summaries of the results of the analyses conducted, and it describes them in detail along with our own commentary. The last part of the proposed article provides a room for summarizing the main findings as well as the related discussion.
