Espacio y empresas: elementos para analizar el XXII Mundial de fútbol de Qatar, 2022

Abstract

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar algunos rasgos del XXII Mundial de futbol de Qatar, 2022, a partir de una mirada geográfica que considera como base la configuración del espacio por parte de la cúpula política qatarí a través del complejo entramado de empresas que controla. En el primer apartado se realiza una revisión sobre la conformación espacial del Estado de Qatar a través de sus acciones geopolíticas y diplomáticas. La segunda parte describe algunas de las redes empresariales de Qatar mediante el ejemplo de siete de sus principales compañías y la influencia de algunas de éstas para generar inversiones en el deporte profesional. En el tercer apartado, se plasma una interpretación sobre la producción del espacio y la generación de infraestructura en Qatar al obtener la sede para el mundial del año 2022
