The Characteristics of the Liberalization of International Service Trade

Abstract

It was not until the 1970s that the idea of "service trade" was proposed and generally accepted as an independent and separate concept [in the field of international commerce]. Since then, however, the international service trade has grown by leaps and bounds; not only has it developed into one of the three largest sectors of global trade, but in doing so it has created a wide-open space for the economic development of countries around the globe and has become a major index of the overall standard and level of economic growth for every nation in the world.
