Corruption and Economic Growth in Indonesia

Abstract

Studi mencoba melihat dampak korupsi pada pertumbuhan produktivitas di Indonesia. Studi ini menggunakan data tingkat perusahaan dan data agregat antar propinsi dan kabupaten. Estimasi model pada model tingkat perusahaan menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan memilih lokasi dengan tingkat korupsi yang lebih rendah. Daerah dengan tingkat korupsi tinggi akan dijauhi oleh perusahaan-perusahaan baru yang kemudian akan mempunyai efek menurunya produktivitas secara agregat. Untuk menguji hal ini maka model kovergensi pertumbuhan diaplikasikan pada data agregat daerah dengan memasukan variabel korupsi. Hasilnya menunjukkan korupsi memberikan dampak negatif pada pertumbuhan produktivitas.
