Abstract

Location quotient and shift-share analysis have been widely used to investigate the source of economic potential and growth in a region. With some modifications, the author argues that the growth-ratio model can be applied as an alternative approach. Using Bankka-Belitung as a reference, the paper shows that Kabupaten Banka has its ow advantages in primary and secondary sectors, especially manufacturing. While Kabupaten Belitung has its own advantages in secondary and tertiary sectors, particularly hotel, restaurants, transportation, telecommunication, an tourism.
