A Sensitivity Analysis of Land Degradation Effects on Food-Crop Productivity

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengestimasi pengaruh ekonomis degradasi lahan pada tanaman pangan lahan kering di Indonesia. Pembahasan akan terfokus pada analisis batas ekstrim hubungan antara degradasi lahan dan produktivitas enam tanaman pangan: padi lahan kering, jagung, ubi kayu, ubi jalar, kacang tanah dan kedelai di tingkat propinsi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan korelasi negatif yang cukup kuat antara degradasi lahan dan produktivitas padi dan ubi jalar. Untuk jagung dan ubi kayu, hasil analisis tidak konsisten pada kedua set data degradasi lahan tahunan dan data kumulatif. Akan tetapi, tidak ada bukti yang cukup kuat untuk menyatakan pengaruh degradasi lahan terhadap produktivitias kacang tanah dan kedelai. Estimasi kehilangan nilai ekonomis tanaman pangan karena degradasi lahan ternyata lebih besar pada daerah yang menggantungkan kegiatan produksi tanaman pangannya pada tanah marjinal dan berkesuburan rendah, dibanding misalnya dengan daerah-daerah yang memiliki potensial produksi yang lebih baik. Untuk itu, penelitian sejenis di masa mendatang agar lebih menekankan pada upaya-upaya untuk mencegah dan menanggulangi kecenderungan menurunnya tingkat pendapatan per capita, karena degradasi lahan sangat berpengaruh pada tingkat pendapatan petani tanaman pangan.
