Abstract

Artikel ini mencoba meneliti perkiraan mengenai kesenjangan upah pada beberapa sektor ekonomi di Indonesia. Cakupan penelitian meliputi sektor industri manufaktur, pertambangan, hotel dan sektor transportasi. Sumber data utama untuk penelitian ini adalah statistik upah buruh menurut jenis pekerjaan. Hipotesa yang akan diuji di sini adalah apakah adanya collective bargaining akibat pembentukan serikat pekerjanya mempunyai korelasi yang positif dengan tingkat upah. Untuk itu dilakukan regresi terhadap data regresi yang terdiri dari 1071 sub-sektor. Hasil yang diperoleh ternyata tidak mendukung hipotesa yang diuji bahkan semakin kuat collective bargaining, semakin besar upah yang diperoleh. Penjelasan untuk hal ini mungkin adalah berbedanya industrial dalam perusahaan di Indonesia. Serikat pekerja yang ada tidak memiliki kekuatan untuk mencegah masuknya tenaga kerja ke perusahaan untuk meningkatkan upah adanya kelebihan penawaran tenaga kerja di tahun 1980 juga turut menjelaskan hal ini
