Abstract

This paper identifies a possible area to which theoretical research could be directed if economics is not to be placed in a "wonderland of no dimensions" (or a spaceless world). The topic being selected concerns with the integration of production-theory and location-theory. Economic theory has long been known to deal with questions of "how much", "how", "by whom", and "when" is the production; the question of "where" is practically neglected. On the other hand, the concern of traditional location theory is centered around the finding of production-location that minimizes transport-costs, while the choice of input mix is not being considered. Thus, and attempt to make the Weberian-location theory an integral part of the traditional theory of the firms which abstracts from spatial elements, is obviously needed.
