Sustainable Development and the Integration of European Environmental Policies

Abstract

Overall environment has witnessed an intense process of degradation due to both increasing the numbers of population and to resource consumption. The importance of the environment has determined and mobilized the adoption of different sets of measures and means to reduce the negative impact on it, that provide the population awareness and the reducing of pollution. A sustainable development orientation is the best solution that ensures the protection of the environment and the well-being of present and future generations on a global basis, awarding special attention, taking into account that the environment constitutes a vital element of existence and development of any type of activity.
