Abstract

At the outset, we might comment that while Captain Healy's remarks (Healy, T. L. 1961. Activity subdivision and PERT probability statements. Oper. Res. 9 341--348.) are valid from a theoretical viewpoint, there are practical operating considerations that were not discussed in the article that have a profound bearing on the problem. Therefore, the following comments will enumerate the practical operating considerations to be associated with the problem in order to achieve a real-world applications in the use of probability estimates for management decision making.
