Direct Solutions of M / G /1 Processor-Sharing Models

Abstract

This paper considers three well known queuing models of time-shared computer systems and the limiting case of processor sharing where the quantum of service shrinks to zero. It shows that the average response times in these models are easily evaluated as the solutions of certain differential equations.
