Sufficient Conditions for Some Optimum-Property Facility Designs

Abstract

A facility design is considered to consist of n mutually nonoverlapping facilities of known areas. Some problems are considered of finding, from the class of all possible facility designs, facility designs with optimum properties; sufficient conditions are given for certain minimum total cost and minimax facility designs, and examples are considered. Possible facility design applications include those of warehouse design and layout, parking lot design and layout, and stadium design.
