Behavioral Science---Some Contributed Views on Eels and Laboratory Managers

Abstract

Starting with this issue, as an experiment, this column will become a sort of behavioural science department, with contributions welcomed from all sources: academia, industry, consulting and government. Along with the above, I will author a continuing series of critiques on the state of research in the various subfields of behavioural science with implications for management science. The guest contributions may be submitted in the form of short essays (1500--2500 words), or as letters reacting to something said in a previous issue. As deadlines for Interfaces are only three months ahead of actual publication, and only three months apart, it is hoped that the Behavioural Science part of this journal will become a useful medium for exchange of ideas. The emphasis of this exchange, of course, will be discussion and controversy regarding the behavioural side of management science implementation.
