Abstract

The successful implementation of a forecasting model for determining the need for dialysis in Massachusetts was reported in the December 1981 issue of Interfaces . Providers of dialysis in the state and users of the model wanted to update and revise the model to reflect changing trends in incidence, survival, and technologies. The revised model, which is being updated specifically for use by individual health systems agencies in planning their dialysis bed needs, seems to be as accurate in prediction as the previous versions.
