Inversión Extranjera Directa y Crecimiento Económico

Abstract

Mediante un análisis empírico de datos panel sectorial, el cual permite evidenciar vínculos específicos, se identifican spillovers entre la Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED) e indicadores de desempeño macroeconómico para la economía mexicana. Los resultados muestran que: a) la IED presenta dos tipos de concentración particulares, una por entidad federativa y otra por sectores de la actividad económica, b) los flujos de IED que se dirigen a México buscan principalmente eficiencias de producción, c) dichos flujos se explican por el crecimiento económico, la productividad laboral y la competitividad internacional. Con estos hallazgos, puede decirse que la política económica federal debe orientarse a la instrumentación de acciones que permitan a las empresas localizadas absorber la IED. El panel sectorial es un método poco usado que desagrega relaciones macroeconómicas permitiendo identificar impactos más eficientes.
