The evolution of public policies for research and development in Romania

Abstract

The present paper aims at highlighting the evolution of public policies for research and development in the context of identifying several structural problems that have marked their evolution. Based on the analysis of total research and development expenditure, public expenditure, private expenditure and, respectively, state aid to research and development, the paper aims to suggest possible solutions for the policy makers at the national level in order to increase the contribution of research and development activities to the process of economic development.
