Abstract

This article examines the elements which have led to the downward trends in wheat quotes at The Chicago Board of Trade. It identifies the characteristics of the international market in January and February 2016, and provides a forecast for the next months. The second section of the article analyzes the fundamentals of the world wheat market in the current agricultural season (2015/2016), by main producing, consuming, importing and exporting countries. A special attention is given in our analysis to the evolution of the wheat market in Romania in 2015, both in terms of prices and fundamental factors.
