The Eu Performances In The Context Of The International Effort For Mitigating Climate Change

Abstract

Climate change is a real danger, affecting all regions of the world. The past two decades have included 18 of the warmest years in history, and extreme weather events such as forest fires while heat waves and floods are becoming increasingly common both in Europe and elsewhere around the globe. European Union is one of the signatories of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to below +2°C relative to pre-industrial levels and to continue efforts to limit it to +1.5°C. At the same time, the EU has set ambitious measures and targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. This article will examine the progress made by the European Union in combating climate change, the analysis being based on studying the european legislation, as well as literature and studies published by important specialists.
