Abstract

On January 7, 2019, the European Commission announced the extension (with two more years) of the current state aid rules, at the same time with the launching of their assessment in order to initiate a future comprehensive reform of EU state aid regulations. Hence, the present paper aims to present the implications of the evaluation process both on the control of state aids in the Member States and on the modernization of the most important EU regulations (The General Block Exempt Regulation, De Minimis Regulation, Guidelines for Regional State Aid, Guidelines for State Aid for Rescue and Restructuring).
