Abstract

Currently, the European agricultural sector is interconnected with global markets, affected in recent years, by increased volatility, with a direct impact on all stakeholders (farmers, governments, consumers) in the food chain. Hence, the purpose of this article is to highlight key issues related to the latest developments in EU-28 agricultural trade, taking into account the following factors: export and import for the main categories and subcategories of agricultural products, trade relations with key partners and the implications for ensuring food security in the EU, considering the existing tensions in the economic relations with some partners (the case of the Russian Federation and the reciprocal sanctions between this state and EU-28).
