Abstract

This article offers a perspective on agricultural development in the Province of Córdoba between 2002 and 2018, based on a comparative analysis of data from the National Agricultural Census (CNA). An interpretation of agricultural development is offered from a critical social perspective, which helps to understand the complex and multi-scale development of a process that has had a significant impact on the economy, society and the provincial territory. After describing and characterising recent agricultural development, the trends in production systems and their relationship with territorial transformations, the profound quantitative and qualitative transformations that have taken place are highlighted. Finally, the category of ecological commodity regime is proposed in order to conceptualize the organization of historical natures with flexible crops as a general productive base, starting with the installation of agribusiness and the biotechnological model that sustains it, in relation to its current social and environmental limitations.
