Innovation, economic freedom and happiness

Abstract

As entrepreneurship is recognised as vital to the global economy, issues surrounding individual economic freedom are of increasing concern. The need to understand the principles and considerations that govern today's local and international business practices is thus more important than ever. Jeremy Bentham's inventions, for example the word 'international' as well as his views on innovation, economics and entrepreneurship, were precursors to many ideas and practices now commonplace. This paper takes the approach that reflecting on past ideas provides insight in understanding today's business practices. It is also a necessary step in discovering innovative ideas and to stimulating creative and sustainable problem solving.
