Abstract

Concerns about the environment were seriously initiated by the Brundtland Report. In the three pillar model and the three P's, planet is one of the major elements to be concentrated. Planet dimension is gaining wide acceptance globally as everyone wants a safer place to live. Economical activities are considered to play prominent role in causing environmental problems. It has made a huge cry world over by environmentalists, nature lover's, NGO's to point their fingers to the business world. Business is responding to these environmental concerns much more seriously than the previous generations. It will be of great interest to know the views of micro-entrepreneurs in the trading sector regarding this aspect especially from a developing country like India. This study investigates awareness, willingness, practices developed or adopted and inhibitions to be environmentally sustainable. The waste management practices adopted by micro-traders are examined based on the empirical data from 20 traders.
