Investigating the mediating influence of internal motivation on family-supportive benefits, work-life balance, and job embeddedness: a study in the Indian IT/ITES sector

Abstract

This study investigated the mediating influence of internal motivation (IM) on family-supportive benefits (FSB), work-life balance (WBL), and job embeddedness (JE). Data were collected from professionals (n = 330) working in the IT/ITeS industry in Bangalore, India. Mediation analysis (Hayes and Preacher PROCESS method) was used to test the relationships between the constructs. The findings indicate that IM favourably mediates the relationships between FSB, WLB, and JE in the IT/ITeS sector in Bangalore. Implications for employers to retain top talent, managerial practice, and future research are provided. Moreover, due to the limited research in the Indian setting, this study makes a valuable contribution to the management literature in this context.
