Abstract

The objective of this paper is to prioritise the identified critical input parameters of abrasive water jet machining (AWJM). The identified critical success factors (CSF) for increasing the efficiency of machine are angle of impact, pressure inside the pumping system, abrasive material type, stand-off distance, focusing tube diameter, nozzle speed, abrasive mass flow rate, target material properties. The efficiency of machine calculated on the basis of maximum material removal rate (MRR), the minimum surface roughness (SR) and depth of cut. This paper focus on the identification of weight of critical input parameters of AWJM. The identified CSF are analysed and prioritised by using pare-wise comparison method of analytic hierarchy process (AHP). This identified weight helps manager for effective utilisation of resourses for improvement in productivity. Lastly, the result of this paper shows that few parameters are considered for further study and few are omitted at this stage on the basis of their identified weight.
