Abstract

The purpose of the study is to explore the current landscape of the halal industry and integration of halal industry with Islamic finance to create a strong halal ecosystem. The findings of the study suggest that there is still a lack of nexus between the two industries and there is need to create awareness among the various stakeholders including, public, entrepreneurs and Islamic financial institutions to use Islamic financing as their capital to halal production of goods and services. The paper uniquely explores the possibility of an integration of halal industry with the Islamic financial system by providing the theoretical framework for the creation of a halal ecosystem.
