Abstract

The Jordanian contracting construction industry has been ignored, although it is a very important sector that affects the economic status of the country. This paper aims to investigate the contractors' administrative and technical human resource capabilities in Jordan in terms of number, qualification, and experience during the project implementation phase. A random sample from the highest three grades of classified contractors was surveyed to determine if there are sufficient levels to meet the required demand, and determine the relationship between the three-grade classification and the utilisation level using several statistical tools. Findings have demonstrated that sufficient levels exist. No significant differences have been found in most of the parameters of the study according to the contractors' three grade classification. Hence, aside from the grade classification, a new criterion is required, at least during the project awarding.
